Vintage Purple Paste Brutalist Statement Ring 9 Carat Yellow Gold

A fabulous vintage purple paste brutalist statement ring crafted in 9 carat yellow gold, Paste is a cut and polished flint glass which was hugely popular in the 18th century and created to emulate diamonds and gemstones. The paste stone is in great condition and has the most wonderful violet hue and a lovely sparkle when rotated to the light. The mount and shoulders are openwork in design with a rough and rugged abstract feel. Brutalism began as architectural style that was popular from the 1950s to 1970s and was characterised by asymmetric heavy block like raw concrete construction. The style was much sought after during this period and transferred over into jewellery, sculptures and artwork. The ring is in very good vintage condition with minimal light wear. It has a 9ct gold hallmark which is partially worn to the date letter mark. The remaining hallmark shows that it was manufactured prior to 1975 and from the style we estimate that is circa 1960s. A unique statement piece full of vintage charm which would make a wonderful addition to your vintage jewellery collection.
