A wonderful vintage amethyst cabochon brutalist statement ring crafted in 9 carat yellow gold, hallmarked in London in 1969. The amethyst has a deep rich purple hue which perfectly compliments the warm gold tone of the ring. The mount and shoulders are openwork in design with a rough and rugged abstract feel. Brutalism began as an architectural style that was popular from the 1950s to 1970s and was characterised by asymmetric heavy block like raw concrete construction. The style was much sought after during this period and transferred over into jewellery, sculptures and artwork. The ring has a nice solid weight and is in very good vintage condition with some light surface wear to the amethyst, only noticeable under loupe magnification. To the inner shank there is evidence of a past resize but this has been well done and is not noticeable on the outer shank. A unique and edgy ring which is sure to turn heads with its mix of vintage charm and bold design making it the perfect statement piece for any outfit.

Chemicals and chlorine can damage jewellery. It is recommended that you remove it when using body care products, spraying perfume or hairspray, bathing, swimming and whilst doing housework.
Settings and stones can be damaged by accidentally striking the hand against a hard surface. It is best to remove rings when carrying out any manual work or gardening.
To clean your jewellery use tepid water and a few drops of mild soap, a soft jewellery brush or cloth.
Extra care should be taken with opal, turquoise and pearl as these are porous so soaking should be avoided. To clean wipe with a damp soft cloth and avoid extreme changes in temperature.
When you are not wearing your jewellery it is best stored away in a suitable jewellery box for safekeeping.
