Antique Blue Velvet Heart Shaped Ring Box London

A beautiful antique heart shaped ring presentation box circa early 1900s with a royal blue velvet clad exterior. It was retailed by Kendal & Dent, who were London based watchmakers and jewellers who traded from the Cheapside, London address between 1881 and 1942. A partnership between James Francis Kendal and Edwin Dent, they were renowned diamond merchants and also watch and chronometer makers to the Admiralty, the Royal Italian Navy and Turret Clock Makers to the War Office. The box is unique in style, its deep blue exterior is a little frayed in areas adding to its antique charm. It features a push button opening mechanism which snaps closed to keep the box secure, it does open fairly easily if the lid is pulled. Both catch and hinge are in good working order. The inside of the box features a plush cream velvet ring holder and the lid is lined with cream silk with black typography which reads: "Kendal & Dent Jewellers, 106 Cheapside, London". The box is in very good antique condition with a little age related wear as per the photographs. A beautiful and unique box great for storing a treasured ring. It would also make a special engagement ring proposal box, wedding ring box or photographic prop.
